Outreach Memo

SUBJECT: Choosing a semester topic for RWS 1301

Good morning, Dr. Webkins, my name is Sebastian Uribe. I am an undergraduate researcher here at the University of Texas at El Paso in RWS 1301, taught by Audrey Cisneros. My intended major is Political Science. As a part of this course, we will be choosing a semester topic connected to Political Science, and I need your assistance in order to complete the task. It is an assignment for us to research and get familiar with our majors.

ABOUT ME AND THIS ASSIGNMENT

As I stated previously, my major is Political Science. I chose Political Science as my major because I plan to be an attorney of law in the future; hence, understanding the government and politics is essential and a sharp tool to being a successful lawyer. I still have a long way to go in order to accomplish my goal. In regards to the assignment, I need to find a semester topic. In order to find my topic, I need to find two to three researchable topics within my field.  Then to commence my research, I need to find two scholarly journals. My professor also instructed me to ask about any available conferences for undergraduate research within Political Science. Unfortunately, the assignment will have a deadline. I look forward to working with you and gaining more knowledge in my field.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Your help for this assignment is greatly appreciated. In order for me to do well in this assignment, I will need your assistance in finding:

  • 2-3 Topics

  • 1-2 Scholarly Journals

  • Conferences within 3-4 years

Again, I really appreciate your assistance on this assignment. You will not only help me obtain a good grade, but also with my professional career. This is why this assignment is really important because it will also help me determine how I shape my career.

In conclusion, the information you provide me with will help me in many ways. You will help me complete the assignment before the deadline, which is October the second. Even bigger than the deadline, you will help me ensure that I am successful as I progress throughout the course. It will also help me get more familiar with Political Science. Most importantly, you will assist me with guidance for future academic decisions. If you feel that somebody else could also assist me or if necessary, please refer me or forward this memo to anyone you believe can offer assistance. I put my contact information and my schedule underneath. Please feel free to contact me between those hours.

I am free on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and after 5:40 p.m. On Tuesdays I am free after 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. On Thursdays I am free after 1:00 p.m. On Fridays I am free after 12:00 p.m.

One last time, thank you for your help,

Sebastian Uribe RWS 1301 Undergraduate Researcher
